Good Things Do Come
The past year I've been scrambling to find a summer internship. I have worked on networking, attended info sessions, gotten involved in multiple clubs, gone to staff members time after time to get my resume revised, gone through lots of training to prepare for interviews, and done everything else I could to have an opportunity to learn and grow during the summer. It's been hard and stressful to accomplish this goal, but it happened. And when I knew I would finally be doing an internship over the summer, the first thought that came to my mind was that good things do come.
These words might be familiar to some as one of Elder Holland's most powerful talks. I couldn't just talk about this phrase without sharing this amazing video. So here it is.
This video by Elder Holland has helped me through so many stressful times. And I've become a firm believer that good things do come, and I've seen them come.
Now that I've experience this one specific thing, the opportunity to have a summer internship, come, I'm eager to start working and take complete advantage of this learning opportunity. I want to learn as much as I can, work as hard as I can, and work as smart as I can, to truly make this summer count.
I just can't stress it enough. But for those that trust the Lord, good things do come. Whether its now, in a few years, or after death. Its such a peaceful feeling to know that we're watched over, taken care of, and loved very dearly.

I love that the apostles and prophets can help us feel better after we have felt so low. I think they are true messengers sent to help us and encourage us to never give up. I am super grateful for them!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you were able to get your summer internship. What will you be doing? I love internships. I think they are to help us learn and grow to our fullest potential before we actually go out and embark on the journey of "real life". I think all the internships I have had helped me to grow and learn. I have discovered I love what I do. I hope that you will feel the same as you take your internship this summer.
Nice post. Congrats on the internship. I am in a similar boat - trying to find a job for the summer that is more than just washing dishes. As we are firm in our commitment to act according to our desires, we begin to see results. The Lord does bless us because of our earnest efforts and the righteous desires of our hearts.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I think that is awsome that you got an internship. I think the key is to trust that the good things will come from God, but continue to act as if the only way it is going to happen is if you work for it.

I've always been a slightly pessimistic person and especially when times are hard it is so difficult to have faith in the future, that good things will eventually come. Jeffrey R. Holland also once said, speaking on the same subject of good things coming, that some may not even come until the next life, and that has always helped me put things into perspective that it isn't about this life, its all about what we are preparing to become.
